The University of California 4-H Youth Development Program |
Welcome to our site! Although the National Collegiate 4-H Organization is relatively new, collegiate 4-H clubs have been in existence since the early 1920's when college students on predominately agricultural campuses began to form to continue their 4-H experiences. However, often they were not referred to as collegiate 4-H clubs in the early days. As an example the North Carolina State University Collegiate 4-H Club began as the 4-H Supper Club. The beginning thoughts of a national organization came about in 1971. The dedication and belief that it would materialize are what made it happen. The growth through the years has been demonstrated through our gradual movement toward our objectives and goals as a Collegiate 4-H "Service Oriented" Organization. The Collegiate 4-H at U.C. Davis focuses on outreach and community service projects. Our main objective during the year is to put on a conference for high school 4-Hers to experience life as a college student. This three day conference allows them to attend classes, take tours, eat at the dining commons and personally experience college life. Questions and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.
