Officers Project

The officer Project gives 4-H members the opportunity to help the club set yearly goals while giving them a chance to develop leadership skills. Officers are nominated and elected to office during the last few months of the 4-H year which ends in June. Newly elected Officers usually have a planning meeting over the summer and take office in September.

The Officer positions are: President, Vice President, Membership, Programs, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, Historian, and Sergeant of Arms ( Sometimes we have two of these ). Descriptions of these positions can be found on the County 4-H website.

Officer Meeting. The general meeting agenda is developed, including recreation and program activities . Sometimes we brainstorm ideas on what type of club activities, like club-wide parties and community service, the club should sponsor. Officers attend the general meeting, facilitate the business portion of the meeting, lead the recreation activity, and participate on club committees as needed.

If you are looking for an opportunity to work as a member of a leadership team and to have a positive influence on your club, the Officer project is for you. Find out more about being an officer by talking to officers at the club meetings or send me an email on what position you are interested in and I will send you information about that officer's duties. Being an officer is a lot of fun and a great learning experience! Consider running for an Officer position next year!
