El Sereno 4-H Club

El Sereno 4-H Club (chartered in 1982) is a part of the Santa Clara County 4-H program within the University of California 4-H Youth Development Program and serves the cities of Saratoga, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Campbell, and West San Jose.

Club Meetings

The club meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from September to June at Westhope Presbyterian Church, 12850 Saratoga Ave., Saratoga, CA.

Club meetings start at 7 PM and last about an hour and a half. They are run by elected youth officers.

Club Projects

Current Project List

Projects are led by teen leaders or parent volunteers. Project meetings are usually held once a month and run 1-2 hours. Between project meetings, members may spend additional time working on their project. The amount of time depends on the project and the member's level of interest.

Members are expected to attend all general club meetings, all meetings of their projects, and to notify the leader if they are unable to attend.

Yearly enrollment

Members may enroll in as many projects as they choose and may participate in an animal project without owning an animal. While we welcome members any time during the year, our regular enrollment is held in August and September. The program year runs September through June, with other activities (such as county camp and the county fair) held in the summer months.

There is a small yearly fee associated with enrollment in the club activities.  This covers the cost of insurance, newsletter, and other incidentals.

Opportunities

There are a number of county, sectional, state, and national 4-H events and competitions that members may do. The most popular county events include the Santa Clara County Fair, County 4-H Council, Presentation Day, Favorite Foods day, 4-H Summer Camp, and Leadership Overnight.

El Sereno 4-H Club has a long history of members attaining the highest recognition in the county and the state.  In a county-wide competition each year, County All-Stars are selected.  Likewise, California State Ambassadors are selected for this working honor.  Click Here to see a list of the past County All-Stars and California State Ambassadors from El Sereno 4-H Club.
