Santa Clara County 4-H Council Executive Board Meeting

Called to order at 7:40 pm by Vicky Bosworth

Roll Call:
Carol Jaques, Ronda Rastler, Fe Moncloa, Hans Toensfeldt, Lonnie Toensfeldt, Bob Towle(lg animals), Jim Buckley, Kathy Villano, Deborah Lang

Reports
Treasurer's - approved, and enrollment database done.

Lg Animal - explained Fair barns plan, Buyer's discussed, upgrade supervision of pens etc due to high visibility of public and animal rights groups. Parents can help with safety but not grooming. Parents may feed in AM but not in PM. With new pens, question about how to hang signs etc. Little electricity available. No back isles, watering at corners.

President's - Vicky noted that her Grandfather was in the photo on the boardroom wall of the first Santa Clara County Fair Board.


Youth Advisor, Fe Moncloa
1. She has volunteered to be a member of the National 4-H Cooperative Leadership Team, K-12 develop curriculum, $45,000+ training + graphics.

2. She discussed Adolescence Work Group - Leadership- develops an assessment tools and program impact.

3. Explained that the Diamond Star applications are in the CE office. The name has been changed to State Ambassador...more recognizable to a greater public. Criteria are the same.

4. Sibby is sorting through the files. Working hard.

5. Printing T.T.- problem - printer no longer affordable ($1000). Need to find new source. 600 families currently mailed too. Cost must be less than $1/copy. Notify all leaders via elist. Flyer to go out also to all. 

All Star Advisor - Ronda- 
Leadership Overnight planning going fine. All Stars all going to CAL. Jan community Service suggested that all clubs participate in making and giving valentine cards to retirement homes. Ski trip info in Feb TT. A maximum of 30 participants can go and drivers/chaperones are needed. Must be registered and fingerprinted.

Awards Chair - Jim will get together with Jeff ASAP, would like to talk with each chair and get orders of what is needed early. Foods awards will be ordered.

Key Leaders/TT - Lonnie - concerns expressed about TT. Discussion. Motion: Bob moved to have council financially support the printing (by copying) monthly T.T., for 2 months. Carol Jaques seconded it. Motion carried.

Fe - Ethics - UC requires an understanding that Conflict of Interest applies to parents and volunteers to be careful in our positions of authority etc.

Motion - Lonnie made a motion to equally divide the scholarship monies between the 3 applicants, Andrew Bosworth, Lauren Jaques and Carolyn Lash. Jim Buckley seconded it. Discussion. Motion carried.

Vicky requested discussion to request a volunteer to head up the Tom Funke Scholarship. Discussion. 

Hans - Requested that there be a motion to move $500 out of the general fund into scholarship fund. Lonnie so moved and Jin Buckley 2nd. 

Ronnie and Kevin have agreed to supervise the Fair Food Booth again this year.
