Reports:
Motion to approve the budget as recommended by the Budget Committee was made by Dan Chitwood and seconded by John Haggerty.
Discussion: Any Fair money in budget? Not per se, but money could be pulled from special projects fund.
Q: Budget is about $3000 more than last year. Where is the additional money coming from? A: The increase should be covered by expected income.

President's Report
"Who I am Makes a Difference" Buttons presented to Yvette Goldman for starting Coyote Crest club, Carol Jaques, Wendi Hill, Shilo Satran, Fe Moncloa, Kathy Towle, Dan Chitwood, and the 4 All Stars present.

Kathy Towle on Large Animal Field Day: plans coming together. Only missing piece at this point is "ring etiquette." Lots of donated goods expected from local merchants. Prusch Park is hoping that this becomes a large event. FFA and 4-H members will be the biggest winners. Tomorrow night for the planning meeting.

John Haggerty, Small Animal Field Day May 4 10 am to 1:30 pm, at the Monta Vista Recreation Center. Planning meeting is TBD.

John Haggerty pointed out some errors in the roster as distributed: Mark Teagle is Pygmy Goats chair, and Laurie Lash is Cavy chair.

Wendi Hill, Entomology: State Ag Science Field Day attended by 5 4-H'ers. Not enough publicity for the event. The guidelines for the essay part were not available prior to the writing competition.
The County Entomology project will be putting on a county-wide entomology show May 17 - 19 at San Martin Lions Club. Look for more details in the Timely Topics. Also note the new entomology web site at http://www.geocities.com/whill95374/

Fe Moncloa update on Mission committee: A first draft was presented to upper level for review. 14 different versions were created before the draft was submitted. No coordination from state to state; each state does its own mission statement. Once the review is completed, the mission statement will be published on the state 4-H website. The committee was somewhat surprised by the negative response from the leaders and members that read the surveys.

Camp: Dan Chitwood-> Introduced Rachel Teagle one youth director, Tom Tobar as the other. Rachel was excited to be a director. Santa Cruz Camp has raised the daily fee. Total will be about $100 per individual for this year's camp. Question raised about the budget item that shows $7000 in the camp budget, but all the money is needed to pay off debts for which we have not received bills from as long ago as 1998.

All Stars: Planet Granite: Sat, 23 Mar at 11 am. Parent Release form and Medical release form needed. Leadership Overnight wrap-up -> how about the 6th graders? Whole Earth Day event -> need event selection soon. All Star Selection: date TBD. All Star Workshop coming up.

Medical Release issue with Planet Granite date. How to do it, how to track it, what to do for the Saturday meeting? John Haggerty had questions as to how to actually accomplish the task of getting medical release and parent consent forms. These discussions led to the creation of a task force, meeting next Monday at Lonnie Toensfeldt's home to work through the issues and come up with recommendations for Fe and Lonnie to take to the state level.

Picnic date for the All County 4-H Picnic: 2002-07-21. Each club will be responsible for bringing their own food and method of cooking. Share the Fun on the same day, in conjunction with the picnic? This was an idea presented to see if anyone was interested.

New Business:
Roster issue: a new family was upset that their information (phone number and kids names, etc.) was in the roster. Also upset that the roster was mailed to all of the county. An idea to mitigate the mailing issue was to have them handed out at club meetings. Do we need a release to get the people's information in or out of the roster? Fe has offered to create a stamp or sticker for the enrollment form with which the family could opt out of having their information listed in the directory.

WRLF Portland OR next year. WRLF in 2005 is in CA. Workshops for the Forum were passed out.

Storage Bin: locating the storage bin on the Fairgrounds is possible. A Cargo Container may be stored there. Wendi Hill said that she would check into getting a container.

Trudy Jones Report (thru DAL) Trudy has a volunteer to run clover camp. Details to be announced.

Fe: For Leadership Overnight, Carol Jaques asked Fe to look over the list of attendees to see if everyone had their photo release. There were a lot that were not initialed.

Factoid: Volunteerism is up overall nationwide, but in CA, adult volunteerism in 4-H was down. Word of mouth works. Our website should have a spot about how to volunteer. 4h4u does. Maybe we can "borrow" from theirs.

food policy: State policies say that food needs to be prepared in commercial kitchens if it is sold to general public.

Sectional Rep: Ronne Senick: Presentation Day at County and Sectional -> Sectional will be March or later, county should be Feb or earlier. May 25 for State presentation day. Members that receive a medal at Sectional are eligible to go to state.

Montana is the state selected for Exchange. Contact Lonnie Toensfeldt, Vicky Bosworth or Mary Bartlet for more info.

Fair:
Committees: A good start has been made on volunteers for the various committees.
Food Booth: Dates are being filled for working the food booth. Check with Kevin or Ronne.
Awards: Two separate nights, might have hat pins instead of trophies.

Refreshments provided by Paradise Valley, the Candy project. Thanks!

May Refreshments -> Rolling Hills.

Respectfully submitted,
