Santa Clara County 4-H Council Meeting
May 8, 2001
Call to order by Vicky at 7:38pm
Roll Call: Los Gatos, San Martin, Hilltop, Rolling Hills, Paradise Valley, El Sereno, Pleasant Acres, Sunset, Adams, Homesteaders, Fe Moncola, Dr. Carole MacNeil,
Statewide 4-H Director
All members present did self-introduction for Dr. Carole MacNeil's benefit.
4H pledge
Dr. MacNeil gave a state report. She stated her plan to visit all 58 counties. She discussed questions addressed at all counties and then directed them to the group present. Topics discussed included "what works in 4H and what are the challenges facing 4H". Carole submitted in her budget report a request for leader / clover
leader's training; some by distance learning on the web.
Vicky asked Carole, "What can we do to help you"? Carole responded, "Participate, come together".
She also explained that Risk Management Team in Oakland is not to support the 4H program, it is to manage the risk to the university.

All-star report: Selection process was explained, applications are due June 1. Interviews will be June 9th and reception will be at Mary Ellen Edes on June 30th. RSVP if you plan to attend.
Food booth report - Set up of the food booth was yesterday, a thank you to Carol, Mark, Jim, Dan, Lonnie, Hans, Bruce, Trudy and Kevin. Ronnie explained status and requested help on Thursday and the last Sunday during fair. Shift leader training will be on May 9th and 10th at the food booth. Each club needs to send a member for each scheduled shift to be worked.
Marketing Project report - Margo Lang gave a presentation about the goals and strategies of the marketing project. She also gave an overview of the work completed to prepare this plan. Adult leader Tim Oey, presented the financial outlook of the propose marketing push for the county Aug/Sept 2001. Discussion followed, John Haggerty motioned, Jim Buckley second, to support the project up to a total of $715.00 / max. for web site and printing costs.
Election report - Offices up for re-election includes V.P, treasurer, and corresponding secretary. Election committee, chair Lenai Bach, members include John Haggerty, Jim Buckley, and Ronnie Senick
Robotic report - Lenai Bach hopes to have 3 teams participating, packet have been ordered and will arrive in august.
Awards Chair - Jim needs money for trophies and help during fair.
Small Animal - John requested an additional $200.00 for judges fees. Ronnie will call Eilleen, get day passes for the judges, and give them to John
Camp report - Applications are due June 16
Citizenship focus report - Trudy reported that the dates are set for June 26th and 27th, and a planning meeting was scheduled for May 24 at 7:30 at the Jones' home. Intended places to visit are NASA, SCC jail and a fire station.
State Leadership conference report - Vicky stated the event is at San Diego state on August 10-12 and applications are due in June.
Fe's report - All clubs must submit an asset/inventory list and a copy of the bank statement of February 2001. South county officer training will happen in August, dates and place yet to be set. Fe will not be here for SCC fair.
Share the Fun report - Vicky announced that Chris Baldwin would chair the event. Date to be set, should be late August.
