What is a Fashion Revue? The Fashion Revue is an event for those enrolled in 4-H to highlight their efforts and to develop self-confidence and poise. Members have the opportunity to model the garment(s) they have made or purchased and to present themselves at their best in personal grooming, posture, modeling, and accessorizing their garment. The day is one of learning, as well as competing. Instruction will be given, especially to the Beginners, on how to model. All entrants will receive written, constructive comments on their outfits. Members must be enrolled in the 4-H Youth Development Program. Garments must not have been shown in a previous Fashion Revue. There are three major categories of competition to enter. Contestants must select or construct and model their own garments. Members may enter in any one or more of the following:
There are four levels of competition in the Traditional and Recycled categories and three levels of competition (Beginner - Senior) in the Purchased category. Clover - Any contestant 5 to 8 years old. Beginner- Any contestant 9-11 years old. Junior - Any contestant 12-13 years old as of January 1, 2005. Senior - Any contestant 14 and above as of January 1, 2005. To encourage self-confidence and poise contestants should be prepared tell the judges about their outfits in a short 30 second to one-minute explanation. (Length of explanation should be age appropriate). This is required at Sectional Fashion Revue. Contestants are awarded a Gold, Blue, Red, or White award according to the point count. Each judge will have a judging sheet for each participant on which to make comments. Bonus points may be given at the judge's discretion for difficult or creative features well done. Gold Medal winners may advance to the Sectional Fashion Revue.
